If you, like most people, enjoy spending time outdoors grilling delicious food for your friends and family, then you'll need a good grill. When looking for a grill, many of us are attracted to shiny stainless steel. Stainless steel bbq grill not only provides great food but also has the ability to withstand harsh weather. But if you're not careful, that shiny grill will soon be covered in grease and grime. After all, keeping your grill as clean as possible is important to ensure that your food tastes great. So here are a few simple steps you can follow to clean your grill and get it ready for your next barbecue.
Scrub the stainless grates
The stainless steel grill grates must be cleaned after each use to prevent grease and food buildup, limit corrosion and preserve the flavor of the food. While the grates are still warm, use a suitable stiff wire brush to remove debris and grease. If stains and buildup persist, using baking soda and water paste can help you clean the grill. Make a paste by mixing baking soda and warm water. Apply it to the removed grill with a brush and let it work for at least 20 minutes. After you have completely scrubbed the grills, you will need to rinse them off. A good way to do this is to use a garden hose, as this will help you remove any residue. Once rinsed, let it air dry or towel dry and once it is clean, you can put it back in the grill. If you haven't cleaned your grill's grates in a while, you may need a more aggressive cleaner to make it look new again. Apply a generous coat of oven cleaner spray to both sides of the grates. Place the grates in a plastic garbage bag and leave overnight.
Clean the exterior of the grill
When cleaning the exterior of a stainless steel barbecue grill, we do not recommend using stainless steel cleaners and polishes because they are not designed for very hot surfaces. Instead, use a soapy solution made from warm water and dishwashing detergent, which is one of the best ways to clean your grill safely and effectively. Avoid using abrasives and acidic cleaners as they can damage the grill's surface. Dampen a microfiber cloth with a detergent and water solution. Wring it out and wipe the outside of the grill. Always follow the same direction as the grain to prevent scratching. Microfiber is the best material because it will not scratch the steel, while other fabrics may. For stubborn areas with caked-on grease or other stains, use a soft sponge. Do not use a Pasteurized cloth or steel wool. Once everything is clean, rinse well with warm water to remove all dirt and soap residue left behind after cleaning. Dry with a microfiber cloth, making sure to follow the grain direction again to prevent scratches. While the grill is drying, you may need to wipe it down with a stainless steel cleaner to give it a shiny appearance.
Clean the inside of the grill
To clean the inside of your stainless steel adjustable bbq grill, make sure the grill is turned off and cooled before you start. Clean and inspect your burners regularly for food and grease droppings to avoid problems. Remove the unit as a whole, remove large pieces of food with tweezers and clean all components with a soft cloth and soapy water. If the clogged burner ports are caused by debris, clean them carefully with a small wire brush. If your grill comes with an ash tray, you can easily clean and dump the ashes.
Polish your stainless steel grill
Vegetable oil is a great way to keep food from sticking to the grates. It can also be used to polish the outside of a stainless steel grill. To make your grill shine, you need to start with a clean stainless steel grill. Wet your microfiber cloth with some cooking oil and polish the outside. Follow the grain of the stainless steel to get the best results. If you're not satisfied with the results, polish your grill nicely with a stainless steel polishing wipe.
Cleaning your stainless steel grill is easy, so scrub it clean and get it ready for all the grilling you'll be doing this summer. Your food will taste so much better and your grill will perform better. With the right tools, cleaning becomes a breeze.
